Round 1 Match 28

Blockbuster Battle!
Mighty Mouse: Combines the two very cool elements of "cartoon mouse" and "superhero". His operatic style was recently adopted by the current kids hit "Wonder Pets".
Bugs Bunny: The wisecracking bunny who always got the better of his opponent, be they hunter, monster, pirate, bandit, duck or Abominable Snowman. The franchise of the Looney Tunes dynasty.
Criteria: This one will be a bloodbath for sure. Will Bugs' charm overcome the obvious brute power of Mighty Mouse? Your votes will decide!

Round 1 Match 27

Child Star vs. Video Avatar!
Punky Brewster: The "Annie" of the 80's. Very prevalent at a time when cute precocious kids' shows were all the rage (see "Webster", "Full House" etc).
Mario: The pipe jumpin', radish throwin', boss beatin', surreal son of a gun! Cool for many reasons, (notwithstanding the whole Bob Hoskins movie thing)
Criteria: Pretty good levels of sentimentality for both icons, and both are from roughly the same era. There is probably a gender division, given the differences in source media. Let the game begin!

Round 1 Match 26

Balding Battle!
Charlie Brown: You know you're cool when they name an emotional state after you. "Gee, you're looking very Charlie Brown today. What's wrong?"
Jean-Luc Picard: The thinking man's Kirk. Sure, he still seduced alien princesses, but they were more mature, and he served them wine first. Let Ryker do the fisticuffs and the one-night stands, Jean-Luc was a much too cool for that.
Criteria: Believing him to be a Ferengi spy (due to his tell-tale head shape) Charlie Brown is abducted by the Enterprise. Discuss.

Round 1 Match 25

Natural Selection Battle! Dolphins vs Sharks!
Flipper: Lassie under water. Assists with rescues and prevents water-based crimes. Once the crooks get out of the boat, not so much.
Jaws: The terror from beneath. The historical influence of Jaws is obvious, shown in the sequels of gradually decreasing quality, and the rip-off movies involving other various fauna.
Criteria: Dolphins and sharks have been natural enemies for years. Now, their greatest champions face off once and for all. Your votes will decide the future of the marine food-chain!
