Round 1 Match 44

Vine Swinger vs. Rascal Singer!
Tarzan: The style of speech, the monkey named after a cat, the vine swinging and the yell are all evidence of Tarzan's pop-culture prevalence.
Buckwheat: Started cool in the original Little Rascals features, and became even more pervasive when Eddie Murphy annexed the character for his SNL skits.

Round 1 Match 43

Battle of the Blockheads!
Herman: Who knew that the template for the modern TV dad would come from a Frankenstein pastiche?
Spongebob: Mr. Squarepants is a guilty pleasure for many 20-somethings and beyond. Cool for his fast paced and multidimensional humour.

Round 1 Match 42

Battle of the Pencil-Necks!
Screech: Apart from his keen fashion sense and scene-stealing dialogue, Screech is cool for being the court jester in a show dominated by a marketed "cool" based on beauty and trends. That's a little on the ironi-cool side, but still cool.
ET: This little guy was THE cool icon for a whole summer and beyond. Think about it, he was so cool, people bought into putting that ugly thing on their t-shirts, sleeping bags, key chains, etc. Just because he made us cry. Old Yeller never got that much swag money, and he actually died.

Round 1 Match 41

It's the new Sailor Scout! Sailor Meatloaf!
Sailor Moon: I don't know much about the original anime version, but the westernized Sailor Moon caught on a few years ago with it's equal parts of G-Force and Beverley Hills 90210, (would sailor moon defeat the perfume zombies, and would she get to kiss Tuxedo Mask? Tune in next time!). The theme song was also pretty infectious.
Big Boy: While he had gained much of his current notoriety from his cameo in Austin Powers, the rotund porcelain waiter was a pop icon before the term even existed. Nothing says "eat here" like a fat kid wearing a picnic blanket.
