The combatants have entered the arena!
Ladies and gentlemen, we have our icons! (unless I have any more last-minute inspirations, which happened yesterday, so you never know)
UPDATED GUIDELINES
Logistics has neccessitated a change to our planned schedule and timeline. In order to get a good discussion on each match ICON-O-CLASH will open up only 4 matches each week. Each match will come from one of four Divisions, broken down (roughly) by theme ("Action", "Cute/Funny", "Animals", and "Potpourri"). While this results in a less wide-open structure, thematic pairings (especially during Round 1) will result in more hot discussions and guarantee more "dream matches", (including the aforementioned monkey mini-tournament) .
This results in the following timeline:
Round 1: 64 matches total, 4 matches/week = 16 weeks
Round 2: 32 matches total, 4 matches/week = 8 weeks
Round 3: 16 matches total, 4 matches/week = 4 weeks
Round 4: 8 matches total, 4 matches/week = 2 weeks
Round 5: Division Finals: 4 matches total = 1 week
Round 6: Playoff Tournament Round 1: Action vs. Cute/Funny, Animal vs. Potpourri
Round 7: Playoff Tournament Round 2: Action vs. Animal, Cute/Funny vs. Potpourri
Round 8: Playoff Tournament Round 3: Action vs. Potpourri, Cute/Funny vs. Animal
Optional Round 9: Sudden-Death Playoff Final: If two division champs are tied for best win/loss record through the playoffs, they will have to face each other again for ultimate supremacy.
Total weeks: 33 (or 34 if sudden-death)
