Round 3 Match 7
One has vanquished a nerd and a bird, the other has beaten both cowboy and cow. It's a little known (possibly untrue) fact that Batman has a nut allergy. All those Reese's Pieces may come in handy for the potato-shaped alien if things turn physical. Did Bats remember to pack his Bat-epi-pen in his utility belt? Tune in next week, (after voting of course). Same Bat-time, same Bat-URL!

I could go either way, but I'll give Batman my vote. Good thing the Dark Knight isn't up against the Planters Peanut man though, given that allergy...
The real Hutch - the one who doesn't remember who's on his list because he has foresaken all that is good and holy in the name of sports pools and gambling, votes for batman
Even though ET knocked out one of my picks, I am going to have to side with him for this victory - even if they did ruin the remake by getting rid of the guns.
this is a tough, tough match. we're getting into some really interesting match-ups.
i'm siding with the dark knight even though E.T. is adorable and loved by children (or at least those of us who were children when the movie came out) and from one of the top grossing films of all times. ET is great. no doubt. but he doesn't win this match in my books.
i vote for Batman for a few reasons. first, he has crossed generations in a way that ET has not. second, he has crossed media in a way that ET has not (comic books, tv shows, cartoons, movies, etc.). third, he has survived Joel Schumacher's double debacles (Batman Forever and Batman & Robin) and come out the other side with the fantastic Batman Begins film. fourth, he'd kick ET's scrawny little ass in a fight any day. fifth, Adam West. sixth, the Bat-signal icon is one of the most recognizable icons in the world and i don't think we can say the same for the Amblin Entertainment logo.
Batman for the win.

Very very tough call. ET rocks... but I feel like Batman has more longevity... and is more of a cross-generational icon. Batman by a hair.
Tough choice. The originater of ... Go Home and OUch... and the movie that changed movies forever to the caped man that has been reinvented generation after generation. What make an icon an icon?
Well, I have decided to go with Batman because he is so popular that my children have heard of him and have no idea who ET is. That must mean he is seen in popular culture more often,
