Oh no.. two totally different sides of my nerdiness colliding. I love the whole Star Trek universe, but have been a pretty hard-core Tarzan fan since I was a kid. While I hate to pick one over the other, I'm going to put my money down on Tarzan. Kirk is great, but he really is only one part of the larger cultural phenomenon that is Star Trek, while Tarzan IS the phenomenon. I think Kirk is part of an ensemble team, and a Star Trek episode that only had Kirk would be pretty flat. Tarzan is Tarzan, however! Leave Jane and the monkey sidekick at home, and he still kicks butt.

Tarzan, by far, has the most reach across the different demographics in the world. He's been around longer and will - through different incarnations - be around for a long time to come.

i love star trek. i even have a soft spot for kirk, though he's not my favourite character by a long shot. but i gotta agree with the tarzan votes on this one.
