Round 2 Match 5
Bart Simpson, soon to show his Full Monty Burns in this summer's Simpsons movie, now faces the dour and droll Eeyore, whose tough as nails attitude is hard to beat. The guy walks around with a tack in his butt, and eats thistle bushes for breakfast. That's tough.

Eeyore. So loveable. Bart? Too saturated. Reminds of those experiments in science class where the teacher tried to stress why the salt would no longer dissolve. Bart will no longer dissolve. (And ok, ever since I found out his voice is that of a woman --and how old is she now?-- I just can't get into it. Although props to the actress for doing such a bang up job.)
Eeyore has way too much negative energy for my liking. He obviously doesn't know "the secret" and always saves his party pants.
Tony Robbins would have a tough time cracking him.
Bart, on the other hand, lives in the moment. Hasn't he been 8 for the last 12 years...

I just cannot think of Bart as a huge pop culture icon. Not the way Eeyore is. I love reading winnie the pooh stories and putting on my Eeyore voice.
Bart = brat and a not-very-interesting one at that.

toughest pairing in this round. to use the logic from my argument regarding Veronica and Peter Pan, one must take the literary history of Eeyore and A.A. Milne's work into consideration. it too has survived a long time and is much loved by young and old alike.
Bart and his dysfunctional family haven't been around long enough to prove their longevity to the same degree as Eeyore, but they have proven a great degree of staying power. they are the longest running sitcom in the history of television.
in the end, i am voting for the brat Bart because i think that a) he has staying power, b) he is the icon amongst a group of icons from The Simpsons, c) kids love him as much as adults, and d) he is the subject of serious research as much as Winnie the Pooh and friends.
now if he was up against Winnie himself...then we'd have a REALLY tough one on our hands.

Eeyore.
I am still getting over being terrorized by annoying cousins when the Simpsons first started. "Don't have a cow, man!" Arg!!!!!

In a surprise move, G takes Bart because he is wearing a red shirt. Guess the colour of shirt G is wearing at the moment.
Bart.... Eeyore... no wait, Bart... no no... Eeyore...
Bart's gotten kind of annoying lately...
Eeyore was a part of my childhood... and I still luv him :)
