These two icons are diametrically opposed in their coolness. Tarzan lives by his emotions, surrounded by a living breathing jungle. Spock lives by cold logic, surrounded by the sterile confines of space travel. Who is cooler? Hot and sweaty, or cold and calculating? You decide!

My dad, Captain Kirk, would not be happy with me if I voted for Tarzan (despite ERB being the first author I ever read outside of school). I'm sorry, ERB, but really I'm a huge John Carter of Mars fan and that was your first novel (not that Tarzan crap). You should have stuck with that Virginian and not make me have to face these difficult choices.

I'm feeling more primal than cerebral today. Sure Spock could quietly kill you with the Vulcan death grip, but Tarzan could rip you limb for limb - or if he was too tired, would have an elephant sneak up on you and then squash you. Tarzan, in all his reincarnations, deserves this win.
Two votes for Tarzan because:

I am joining my family and voting for Tarzan. Mostly out of default - again not a Trekie or Simpsons fan, but get a good season of Grays's Anatomy and I am set? Who do you think that Tarzan would be - McBeastly?
I think I'll take Spock - his role as an ambassador in TNG cements his character. Tarzan is pretty much a one hit wonder.
Again, my office colleagues go completely against where my gut is telling me to go...
Tarzan - bleh. I can definitely see his icon status - tv, movies, book, toys, wildly popular call of the wild thing...
But Spock - I mean he's Spock. No offense to Barrieice's dad, but Spock's the true heart of the original enterprise. He's even come back from the dead - and not as a zombie (wisely, if you ask me...). He has tonnes of action figures after him, movies, comics, books, and i think has probably been mocked more on spoof shows than Tarzan.
Spock gets my vote.
