I just never got into the whole Pooh thing. And he took out Piggy, who should have "Hi-ya'd" his butt in round 1. So my vote goes to Monty in hopes of vindicating my swine-hero's early demise.

I also didn't get into the Pooh thing, and I also think Burns is cooler, but this will be one of those matches where people vote about who's bigger instead of who's better.

I think Pooh bear has to take this match. In terms of icon status, he's got it all over Burns-y. The chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff gets my vote.
Even though I hated Winnie the Pooh growing up I can't deny his iconic value since I did have two younger sisters that had EVERYTHING they could to do with Winnie.
Monty isn't even the best character on the Simpsons and even though you hear an occasional Burns-esque "Ex..cellent" now and again there is no denying the Bears staying power and popularity over the years. That, and he's named after the City of Winnipeg so that damn cool!

I have to say that it would take a lot for me to think a Simpson character is better than any icon. Although I think that Burns has the strongest and longest lasting personality - he can't even manage to down the Pooh.
