Round 1 Match 60

Clue Clash!
Carmen: The educational rogue, and scourge of the geographically-challenged
Gil: The bacterial detective, and scourge of everyone with saliva glands.
Criteria: Carmen has stolen a prize vase from the Bellagio, and has hidden it somewhere in one of Vegas' many global facsimiles. Can Grissom's magic purple light find her and her ill-gotten gains? (cue the Who music, wa-wa-wa-wa-woo, woo-ooo)

Comments:
i vote for the yahoo - go grissam!

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiago?

While she would have definitely lost against most other opponents, I don't watch CSI... so Carmen wins...

With echoes of Jon's lament about others defeated, while one of these guys gets a walk, I'll take Carmen.

I have decided that I am using the Bachelor for this week's reality TV show. So, basically the boys are judged as if they would be chosen to be the bachelor, and the girls, if they would be chosen as the "bride". There seems to be something a little outdated and sexest about this...but I will delve into that later...

Okay so Carmen... she is always disappearing. It is hard to base a relationship on a few moments of stolen time between whirlwind international travel. Gil on the other hand lives in the city of excitment, is intelligent and has the mysterious air about him.

So he is in for the bachelor, but who would he pick - the sexy ex-stripper or the quiet brunette with the curious smile.

Carmen is in San Diego. She's always been there. The whole thing was done with computer imagining and a green screen. It took Gil to figure it out.

i guess Gil. Kind of a blah

round.

meh

who cares?

i pick carmen just because i think her name is more memorable than grissam's. in fact, i didn't even know grissam's name when i looked at his picture.

meh

I'd say Gil Grissom re-blazed the trail for the likes of Dr. House, bringing graceless work-obsessed efficiency to Primetime.

While I know of Carmen Sandiego, I can't say I know anything about her, let alone where she is. As an icon, she's flat and vacuous.

A vote for Grissom whose cut-to-commercial quips are far superior to the smarmy and hammish Horatio Cane.

OK. I'm coming in really late and I sense the squash above but...let's set the record straight. What started CSI? What prompted it to be even considered and why THAT actor? This vote goes to the 1986 sleeper cult-favourite "Manhunter" directed by Miami Vice fame Michael Mann (who also directed a little-known gold nugget of a movie I love called "THE KEEP"...but more on that later). As a result of this film, the FIRST Hannibal movie, I and many others like me fell for the super-empathizing detective Will Graham played by, you got it, William Petersen. To watch this movie is to watch this actor's appeal and to see why anybody who watched that movie wanted Petersen to revisit that role in some fashion or another. Sadly, the character he plays is...well...going deaf and a bit OCD...and, OK, he doesn't seem to have a real relationship with anyone but his bugs...so...OK...not an interesting super-detective. Carmen?
