Round 1 Match 58

Female Role Model Battle!
Cinderella: Her reversal of fortune story and poetic justice has inspired girls of many generations. Whether that was a good thing or not is open to discussion.
Buffy: Her story of grrrl toughness in the face of overwhelming evil inspired many a television junkie for years, and elevated Joss Whedon to cult leader status. However, she has fallen victim to the "Cinderella Syndrome" more than once, (Angel, Reilly, Spike) so how independent is she really?
Criteria: There are many social ramifications to this one. Who is cooler, the good-hearted but passive beauty who wins her prince, or the powerful yet slightly unbalanced killer who runs around fighting monsters? Who has the most sway on your self-image? Who has the most historical impact? Think it over, call your therapist, and then vote!

Comments:
I'm for the vampire killer!

Fire bad. Tree pretty.

Buffy kicks Cinderella's @ss...

Everyone says how good the Buffy TV show is, but I've never bought in. I'll throw a vote to stop the SQUASH - for Cinderella

SO who would the bachelor choose. Well, all of my logic says that the sassy independent @ss kicker would be the choice of a modern day man... However, the whole idea of the bachelor is based on the archaic thought that a women is not happy without a prince charming, and since Cinderella has years of experience in this realm, she uses her ways (and her friend Snow's apple) to drug the poor Buffy to steal the bachelor's heart.. and shoes

Although she did get a little dark and brooding near the end, Buffy and her band of do-gooders deserve the win. She's also on my list.

Buffy. Cinderella is no vampire, true, but she wouldn't withstand a stake to the heart either. Cinderella, who relied on men and mice because she couldn't do anything for herself. I could argue that she may have greater icon status in terms of marketing and global popularity. But I don't want to. I want to see Buffy - the blond who didn't run away in terror from the demons that tortured most of us throughout high school and college - take this battle. I want the girl who protected her friends and family at any cost to win.
Come to think of it, there are comics, books, movies, dolls, games... Buffy's got it all.
She saved the world. A lot.
And there's no way Cinderella would have poisoned Buffy - she doesn't have that kind of self preservation. She would rather sit in a locked room and hope that a magic fairy or some mice would set her free. Plus, I've seen the bachelor a couple fo times and none of that matters - the one with the biggest ta-tas is going to get the proposal...

in my world, Disney's version of Cinderella is a demon and so she loses to Buffy's demon ass-kicking powers.

grrr argh

Cinderella's done more damage to NCAA basketball teams than any Blue Devil or Demon Deacon. For that she must pay.

I was with 'jon a' then, I'm with him now. Another vote for the Slayer.

Isn't it more about who puts out?

Did I say that outloud?
