Round 1 Match 12

Battle of the Grumpy-pants!
Relic: He's like Professor Snape, but with a touque. Looks like the blueprint for every Scooby-Doo bad guy. "I would have got those logs too, if it wasn't for the meddling of those pesky kids!"
Eeyore: the most popular passive-aggressive melancholy equine featured in a children's book EVER.
Criteria: Eeyore has built himself his usual house of sticks. Relic wants to salvage the sticks before Nick shows up. Discuss.

Comments:
It's hard for me to get excited about either of these guys, but I think Eeyore's got more lasting power.

I agree with Jeffy... Who cares? As my lovely wife points out they are both secondary characters - not icons. However, they made the list so I must decide.

Both are downers, but one is human and one is a stuffed donkey - or worse yet, a mule. The human has no exuse for being miserable - Eeyore is surprisingly happy considering his lot in life.

Countless hours of my childhood were spent with the folks from the 100 acre wood... and although Eeyore will always be a secondary character, neither the woods nor Pooh & Tigger's adventures would be the same without him...

To quote the mule that gets my vote... Thanks for noticin' me.

That was deep.

Relic? Maybe a broken down, rusted out trinket, but does he have the status of eeyore? No. Not to say that Eeyore will make it long-term in this tournament, but he definitely smokes Relic's ass on the iconic scale.

So the final episode of dancing with the stars.

I think that Eeyore would be happy to finally be succeeding at something (as he made it through the rigourous pre-televison stage, including close-up camera shots, strength, power and endurance training, interviews and the live audition)that he would decide to make this his moment to shine. No longer shy and sad. But confident, stellar and proud, he would take the stage night after night and wow the audience with originality, pizazz and style. If fact, I heard a rumour that he was so good that Cirque asked him to join their touring group. Alas, Eeyore couldn't leave his friends in the 100 Acre Wood.

Now, I was also a big Beachcomber fan as it was on at 4:30 on Global when I was young. And since I only had two channels there was at least a 50% chance that I was watching it. However, I always thought Relic was a little creepy and dirty. In fact I think he was a little smelly too. Noone will dance with this poor oily gent and he left the competition before it really began. But don't worry, he hurried home and finally beat the pesky kids to the logs, so he was happy too.
