Everyone in the Pool!!!

I've started this separate post to brainstorm about this season's fantasy pool.
Please comment here for ways to improve on the pool, rule changes, extra elements that could be added, etc.
We have the advantage this season of starting it from round 1, rather than bringing it in halfway through the tournament.
Some possible ideas are:
1. Run as per last year. Players choose 4 icons and gain points as they progress through the tournament. The added elements in the tournament itself will make the pool run a little differently than last season.

2. "Blind Man's Bluff". Players choose a set of numbers rather than the icons themselves, (and their team would be revealed in some as yet undetermined way) thereby separating the voter-you who can influence the outcome of the matches, from the pool-you who is going to benefit from that outcome.

3. "Draft Lottery". Players register themselves as pool participants, and then everyone drafts all the icons, one at a time, into their teams. Icons can appear only once in the pool. This would result in larger teams than last season, and every match would mean something to (at most) two people. How do we eliminate the potential conflicts of interest? You can't vote on a match involving your own team members. However, this doesn't prevent you from zombie-voting, or predatory voting to eliminate competition rather than voting your conscience. I welcome ideas to get around those obstacles, (other than the honour system) .

Please to be discussing!

Comments:
A frequently contraversial outcome was that of the "squash" points - will we have squashes this time 'round? how will they be decided?

I am all for the gourd bonuses.

Although, I think this pool may only involve you and I, if level of discussion is any indication.

I concur.
do you prefer the texas hold 'em scheme where no one sees what you've got until that icon is eliminated?
or, an alternate idea jeffy and i had involved aliased team names so we all could see the teams, but not know which team belonged to which pool member.

i thinkthe Texas Hold em approach is best too.
