Round 4 Match 1: Animal Division

The Real Rumble of the Jungle!
The primate power of the one named George now tries to usurp the momentum of the stampeding Babar.

Will George's current mainstream popularity be enough to overtake the Elephant King? Or will that same popularity work against him? Only you can decide by voting! Play fair and wear your helmet!

Comments:
Neva likes Barbars and George. Those ones.

Two top dogs have Babar on their lists, and the lady with moxy has the politically incorrect monkey.

I had a stuffed sock monkey Curious George which was my all time favourite toy. Makes me well up just thinking about my friends throwing it on the road to be crushed by the cars. Later they told me that he was trying to commit suicide and that they were actually trying to save it...

I am voting for the monkey and hope that we can push the underdog up the ladder a few notches.

The problem with blogging is that you can't jump out to check your facts without losing what you have already written. To this end, I must post a retraction.

It's a good person who has George, not a woman with moxy. Rumour has it she has so much moxy that she is having an affair with either the judge or A-Bear - how else could she be so high up the ladder.

Mix up the underdog's name and he/she believes that UR GOOD. I believe it too. Vote for the monkey.

i still vote for the monkey!!

The problem with blogging is that you can't jump out to check your facts without losing what you have already written.

To this problem, I propose the use of Firefox's tabbing feature. Open a new tab (webpage) with CTRL-T, and then switch back and forth with the one you wich to check and the comment you are posting without losing your work.

It worked for me finding the Firefox link... Rediscover the web!

For the record, George doesn't talk. Though, in the stories, the narrator puts stuff in George's head like "George thought the puzzle pieces looked like candy. He wondered if they tasted like candy." We all know how that ends.

Not that folks shouldn't vote for George. Wouldn't want to appear biased or anything.

Babar does talk. Just throwing that out there.

I'll be quiet now.

I have to go for the Curious Little Monkey - although I hope at some point whoever the winner of this battle is, gets knocked out. I don't see the irony in naming either one of these to the final four...

well, i'm obviously outnumbered here, but i will still make my case.

1. i sleep with no one to get anywhere in life. i'm so good, i don't need to sell myself out to anyone to get where i'm going. ;)

2. once again, as stated before, i think curious george is MUCH too popular with the recent revival (movie and JJ album) to be more ironically iconic than babar. truly. he doesn't pass the t-shirt test. if i wear a t-shirt with curious george on it, people will just think i'm a jack johnson fan. buh. no.

ELEPHANT!

And, I for one, thank you for not sleeping with my husband. It would be so awkward... ;-)

np vicbear. i'm here for ya! ;-)

Silence is golden. My chum, George (also my Uncle's first name), for the win.

O-bear votes for "George! It's George!"
qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttttttttttttt

Another fantastic rumour shot down before it could gain momentum...

I don't see the irony in naming either one of these to the final four...

I'm with Vicbear on this, but I'll throw my support behind the Elephant for now - it may make me seem less the hypocrite when I vote against the monkey in the [possible] George vs Jeremy battle in two weeks' time...

Babar's got the edge for me... there was always something about that elephant I liked...

An Elephant King or a Funky Monkey? For me it comes down to the voices.

I've worked with the "actor" who did the voice of Babar and experienced him to be a misogynistic, self-absorbed, power-mongering brat (it's not libel because that is how I feel). Is it fair that I vote against the icon because of my personal bias?

Is it fair that Curious George has received a lot of spotlight lately? Is George's worthiness diminished because he is no longer obscure? Who's fault is that? What if Nelvana trots out a Babar feature film and commissions P!nk or Michel Buble or Yanni to record the soundtrack?

A vote against Babar for corrupting an innocent young boy, filling his account with royalties and setting him on a path of entitlement and inflated self-worth.

Hang in there George! Swallow all the puzzle pieces you want, you've taught us to explore and appreciate the world around us.
