Round 3 Match 3: Action Division

Karate vs Magic Battle!
Daedalus has pretty much been named the coolest action bad-guy, but now that he faces a truly heroic figure, how will the votes stack up?

Comments:
Hmmmm. I've got to say...HONG KONG PHOOEY has certainly got a cartoonish charm this week. And despite my historic favouritism toward all things ancient (and therefore from my childhood) I must scowl now at Daedalus. I still have my shit-kicker named after his cat, but my new Jetta I just might name after this smartly dressed pajama'd do-gooder.

Will anyone support Daedalus?

I will.

Is Daedalus the last of our villainous icons? We should hold on to him to keep our yin and yang in balance for another round or two.

He's more intriguing on a T-shirt.

He's got the perfect evil 'stache.

And his kung fu is the best.

Regarding the squash: It will be a particularly poignant one this week, since regardless of the match where it occurs, somebody in the betting pool will benefit from it, and someone will pay for it!

o-bear votes for the wizard

Some facts about Hong Kong Phooey (as plagarized from toonopedia.com).

Biography

Our hero was in real life, Penron Pooch, a mild-mannered janitor in the local police station - which made it convenient to hear about when help was needed. When trouble raised its ugly head, Penry would dive into a filing cabinet where he would change into his colourful outfit.

He would then hop into his Phooeymobile, which could conveniently transform into whatever vehicle he needed, and with the help of his cat Spot, fix the wrongs that need righting.

He was a self-taught super hero, having learned his Kung Fu through a correspondence course and he could often been found referencing the Hong Kong Book of Kung Fu in the thick of battle.

And he was only on for 16 episodes beginning September 7, 1974. He made some appearances in comic books, as well as the Scooby-Doo laff-lympics in the mid-'70s. We then got to enjoy him again in 1980 when he played next to Godzilla in the Godzilla/Hong Kong Phooey Hour.

Phooey for the Champion Icon.

I never liked guys with mustaches.

Hong Kong Phooey's Kung Fu is better.

two obscure characters from low quality cartoons that didn't last long. hmmmm.....in this case, i'm voting for the purple hooded guy, cuz of his evil moustache and stare. no really, i'm voting for the big D because HKP still comes from a mainstream animation company.

Phooey i say. and i say it to Phooey. Make mine Daedalus. One for Herc's greatest foe (possibly, in the cartoon world anyway...).

Daedalus, the Wile E. Coyote of the Hercules series, had to conceive and implement new nefarious schemes to unleash his evil upon the world.

All that musclebound bonehead Hercules did was slip on his ring and brutishly saved the day without class or finesse. How many times was Daedalus carted off the Olympian jail, bounced on his bony butt? He had to escape that many times and lived to connive again.

Daedalus had staying power and I'm voting for him. (I can see the T-shirt in my mind's eye ... if he doesn't win, I may have design one for myself).

Hong Kong Phooey? I don't even know who that dog is. But I do know he's misappropriating my Asian heritage. Bastard.
