Round 3 Match 2: Action Division

Interstellar Brawl!
Rocket Robin Hood may have found it easy pickings so far, but now he faces the baby-blue ninja terror himself, Panthro! The same Panthro who knocked off representatives from both He-Man and GI Joe. Sturdy competition for the happy bandit from Sherwood Asteroid indeed!

Comments:
in this particular pairing, i'm going with RRH. the very fact that the show is lesser known in the pop culture lexicon than the T-cats sways my vote in his direction for now. we'll see what happens in further rounds.

Neva likes Rocket Robin Hood.

Panthro, of course. Thundercats, ho!

Panthro!

Gotta go with the Thundercat and his happening nunchucks (sp?). Panthro was my brother's favourite and I always like to vote for the surly curmudgeon, if I can.

o-bear votes for the guy on the horse.

nmmmmmmmn nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnm
(wow, my girl is helping me out big time this week!)

i have no feelings for either of these characters.

yes, but Urs, which one of them is more ironically iconic? when one considers the two characters, which one is a more ironic icon?

"Thundercats, here comes Panthro! Ho!" (Panthro, "Thundercats Ho!" Part 5)

I'm going to continue to support Panthro on this one, with the baby blue, with the 'chucks, with the "curmudgeonliness".

Rocket Robin Hood is certainly ironic enough, but I hated him; whenever the music started, I knew that I'd be seeing endless title sequences, character bios, and cookie cutter stories with poorly animated bland dimensionless plots.

There are characters on this show. (I would more easily be able to support Friar Tuck - that eating and throwing gag is priceless), but the "hero" has no real defining characterstics. He's sort of strong, honourable, courageous. Like Superman - right down to the single curly lock - but riding a cardboard looking horse instead flying with a cape.

Ironic: Yes.
T-shirt cool: Not for me. I'm surprised he beat Voltron.

RRH might be dated and may have suffered from budgetary shortfalls but don't blame the repeated use of animated sequences on him but on the times (most television programming suffered this way -- especially Children's Programming!). Why it wasn't until The Simpson's that networks acknowledged that it wasn't just kids who were watching cartoons and opened up the wallets. Yes, blame the cheap networks and advertisers and on animation house that wanted higher profits. Blame short-sighted writers who had cocaine habits and worn out mocasins. Blame the goof-ball elevator attendant that sparked that joke that made it into the TV show and not make sense even decades later. Blame over-exposed children, spoiled on British programming, and with little outlets beyond their own cathode tubes (of course the show bored you!). Blame parents and school teachers who gave us ROUTINE.

I'll stop here only because I actually have to drive for an hour but I'll still be thinking about this...continuing my rant as I ride my metal beast imagining "What could have been?"

Don't blame the symbol of IRONY.

RRH would be cool. W

ho the hell would recognize Panthro? I didn't, and I KNOW television.

As compelling as Panthro's mien is (and comparable to basketball player Joey Graham), my rocket vote goes to Robin Hood.

The timeless tale of the Sherwood bandits, reinvented for the year 3000, 1960's-style, has only gotten better with age.

Muscle-bound Panthro could manage Little John status at best. Rocket Robin would feed Lion-o to the dogs.

Put Rocket Robin Hood up against Astro Boy and let the sparks fly.

He's not cool. He's not ironic. But he's better than the blue pussy.

Panthro would take that wantabee main character out. Who has heard of this cartoon? Thundercats is known all around. Panthro would kick everyone's butt with two arms tied around his back. That's right... He would kick the crap out of this so main charactor. Go Panthro!
