Robot vs. Scientist!
It's like some cheesy science fiction movie that you used to watch on Saturday afternoons (if you had cable, that is). Can the mighty robotic cherub defeat the genius of Dr. Snuggles? Or will the good doctor find a secret achilles heel and invent something at the last minute to foil Astro Boy's quest for glory?

Our contest is for ironic and cool. Not just more ironic. Not just more cool. You gotta have both!
Astroboy is brave and gentle and strong. And he's cool, but he is already celebrated.
As for our kindly, grandfatherly inventor? He's plenty ironic, and as for cool:
He loves animals! He has restored the colours of the rainbow! He has invented a gadget to cure depression!
He has a worm-mobile.
He has writing by Douglas Adams, for the love of Pete!
Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, you must acclaim Dr. Snuggles!

While in Boston this past fall at the Giant Screen Theatre Association annual conference, I had the (really still haven't decided if it was fortunate or unfortunate) pleasure of viewing an Imax-size, fully Japanese with no subtitles (although all the writing on the spaceship was in English), 45 minute Astro-Boy cartoon. Don't really know what it was all about, however the moody human girl seemed to have a crush on our robotic and jet propelled hero. Gotta vote for the machine that gets the girl.
As Jeffy has so accurately pointed out, you have to be ironic AND cool.

I was in a meeting recently where a woman had an AstroBoy shirt on and all I could think of was, oh - I guess that shirt's already out there and popular-ish.
I kind of feel that Dr. Snuggles on a shirt would give more people a, "Hey! Cool! Dr. Snuggles" thought. Amd I like that...
