Le Petit Prince's website probably has as good an introduction as any, but the best thing of course would to be to reread the book with fresh eyes.

the one and only time I had to read the Prince was en francais for OAC french class, which may have coloured my appreciation, (or lack of).
But as part of the class, I remember watching a very surreal 70's movie version featuring Bob Fosse as a snake(I think?)in an long dance sequence. That was weird enough to be memorable.
