Round 1 Match 9: Animal Division
Puppetry Battle!
Jeremy: Yet another European import/interpretation that penetrated Canadian children's consciousness through TVO. The theme song was probably the most memorable part of Jeremy's adventures.
Lambchop: Before Elmo, there was Lambchop. Cute and precocious, this puppet and her ventriloquist Shari Lewis were a mainstay in 70's TV. A highlight of the original Hollywood Squares.

I WANT to vote for Jeremy.. my heart did a little skip in recognition of the travelling bear... BUT unfortunatly, that's not enough... I can't remember a single episode.. I have to vote for the lamb because I can still sing the theme song.
Jeremy is among the cartoons that I most regret not watching enough.
Many episodes formed a part of a continuous story, with adventures in the rocketship or other countries spanning a week or more.
He can dance and he can sing.
Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Do Re Mi!
Now that's a catchy theme song.
Also the fact that Jeremy, or "Colargol", is currently only available in European DVDs in Polish certainly adds to the ironic value...

I used to be so disappointed if I missed an episode of Jeremy Bear.
I can do most anything!
Like vote for the bear...

Looks like Jeremy doesn't need my vote, but I'm giving it to him anyways.
He didn't need to resort to self-promoting appearances on that great Canadian game show "Definition", unlike Shari Lewis and her darn sock.

going for jeremy - the lesser known of two v. cool icons from my childhood. irony factor higher. plus, he was WAY more resourceful than dear ol' lambchop.
this was a hard choice between two good icons (none of that corporate crap in this battle).

moxywoman, don't you remember the brief role Lambchop had as the mascot for the short-lived "McRack"? A pre-processed slab of lamb meat with collectible "bonz" inserted into it containing witty jokes and catch phrases.
