Animal Division: Round 1 Match 4
Catfight!
Hobbes: The confidante and conscience for Calvin, who without his influence would be both brutish and short.
Tony the Tiger: The "Captain America" of the cereal mascots. Big brave and wholesome, Tony showed kids that all they needed to achieve their goals was a lot of heart, a lot of hard work, and a big bowl of sugar-coated cattle feed.

no contest. Tony-the-who?
okay, okay. I'll give you the fact that Tony is really well known. i've even heard he's grrrrrrreat. but, i mean, c'mon.
Hobbes is SMART (named after a philosopher, fer cryin' out loud). he's STRONG (how many times did he kick Calvin's ass?). he's COMPASSIONATE (who else was there for Calvin to hug on those bad days?) he's COOL but not too cool (no one that allows himself to be put in the washing machine for a bath can be considered egotistical).
also, i must go back to the anti-sugar cereal criteria and say 'bye bye' Tony. Calvin wins.

Okay - when did Hobbes become SMART, STRONG and COMPASSIONATE (in CAPS no less!) - I don't even remember him. I'm all for Tony - he's great!
umm, i meant Hobbes wins.
oh, and anon. - are you serious? you don't remember him? from the best comic strip ever, "Calvin and Hobbes"? REALLY? (yes, i'm asking 'REALLY?' in caps.) hmmm. chacun a son gout. :)

Dude. You need to get a name.
Because "anonymous" will make people think that you are really well versed in Calvin & Hobbes and you are just baiting us all. Which is what I still kind of think.
I totally thought that NO ONE (see moxywoman's inference about intentional use of caps) would vote for Tony here.
Surprises abound.
If there's any doubt - I support Hobbes.

Growing up I modeled my relationship with my stuffed animals after Calvin and Hobbes'... daring adventures, and loving support...
Hobbes hands down.
Hobbes hands down.
Hobbes is by far the best cartoon tiger that has ever, and continues to live. Who else could match wits and even somewhat control that mischevious Calvin, except when C's mom and dad were around of course.
Calvin and Hobbes is still my favourite cartoon strip of all time.

Tony turned two words into an internationally recognized catch-phrase. He's so popular that they had the guy who does the voice record every word in the english language before his death so that Tony could live forever.
Now that's cool.
Now that's cool.
Hobbes - hands down...
Have you seen that punce - sorry Tony, your sugar buzz won't protect you this time.
I love when Hobbes would teach Calvin about love and the ways of women.
