I don't even know who or what the Grape Ape is, but MonChiChi - we talked about him all the time in college. Wondered what he was up to and if we should look him up for a road trip...

Icon-o-clash überlord Rule/Criteria #4 suggests only individuals should be in. The Wiki link to Monchhichi (apparently the true spelling) suggests that Monchhichis describes the lot of them, like Smurfs or Snorks.

Regarding Jeffy's (other) Rule Appeal...
I could have sworn Monchichi was a singular entity and not a class of beings, but I will take solace in the fact that most people (with the exception of some of the folks found on google searches) only owned one and called it, "Monchichi" and not, "Sport Monchichi" or "Pranky Monchichi"
We will have to chalk this one up as an exception case (like the Keebler Elves and My Little Ponies)

ah no - when it comes to pop culture and a running Monkey joke for a group of journalists - boys come and play too. Waitaminute - does that mean some boy out there in the world, might think that Monchichi is more important than the Grape Whatsit - iconically speaking?
I'm pretty sure that I'm a girl; and I'm pretty sure that my vote goes to Grape Ape! Monchichi only registers as slightly appealing small stuffed toy to me. Voting for the 'chi would be like voting for Furby.

Aah, to grow up in the virtually TV-free zone of Midwestern Ontario. Them darn kids today, they just don't know how good they've got it with their high falutin' satellite dishes, cable TV and the Internet!!
