Underdog: Hero to shoeshiners, (and hip hop artists) everywhere. Immortalized in balloon form for the Macy's parade, inspiring kids years later to exclaim, "What's that dog thing blocking out Pikachu?"
Hong Kong Phooey: The number one superguy. Hanna-Barbera's capitalization of the karate craze of the 70's. Similar to Underdog, Phooey had a lowly alter-ego. But, when he jumped through that folding ironing board, the butt-kicking wasn't far behind.

tough one. both fall under the inept superhero category. one needed drugs to do his job and one needed a cat.
i think i'm going to vote for Hong Kong Phooey because a) the vehicle was cool (and useful), and b) cats over drugs any day.

I dunno. I am unfamiliar with both, my first reaction goes to Underdog. He didn't need to appropriate another culture to find meaning or purpose in his life.

i have never seen either of these. But i just looked up Phooey in the dictionary and it's an expression of contempt. So phooey to you HKP. Here's a vote for Underdog - the one that it is on Eric Forman's watch...
